11 New TV Shows That Will Have You Hooked This April

From the long-awaited third season of 'Euphoria' to 'The Handmaid’s Tale' sequel 'The Testaments' and 'Baby Reindeer' creator Richard Gadd’s new drama 'Half Man', this month is made for TV.

We’ve long been conditioned to believe that good things come to those who wait, but if Mariah Carey’s new album has taught us anything, it’s that patience doesn’t always pay off (sorry Queen).

Alas, the month of April is packed with highly anticipated series returns and spinoffs that promise to deliver. Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer and co are back to bless our eyeballs in season 3 of Euphoria, while Netflix’s wildly popular dramedy, BEEF, is back for a second act.

Better yet, Schitt’s Creek creator and star Dan Levy is making his small screen resurgence with crime comedy Big Mistakes, while superhero satire The Boys takes its fifth and final bow. Add Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd’s new drama Half Man to the mix, and April looks stacked with new TV shows well worth the wait.

1. BEEF Season 2

Where Can I Watch it? On Netflix

Sadly, we’re not in for a part two of Steven Yeun and Ali Wong’s road-rage-turned-self-reflection story, but Lee Sung Jin’s critically acclaimed anthology promises to get pulses racing with a new plot and cast of personalities. This time the beef brews between a newly engaged couple (Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton) who witness a fight between their boss and his wife, played by Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan. Things get hairy fast, with their coveted country club’s billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh-Jung) adding fuel to the fire.

2. Big Mistakes

Where Can I Watch it? On Netflix

After the loss of inimitable icon Catherine O’Hara, Schitt’s Creek fans have been given a warm, series- shaped hug by none other than her on-screen son, Dan Levy, AKA David. In his new comedic thriller, Big Mistakes, Levy leans back into the dysfunctional family formula he lands so well, teaming up with Taylor Ortega and Laurie Metcalf who play his sister and mother. In a comedic crime twist, the ill-equipped siblings are blackmailed into working for dangerous criminals, with hilarious results.

3. The Boys Season 5

Where Can I Watch it? On Prime Video

Creator Eric Kripke always knew how and when his flagship satirical superhero series would end, and the time has come to see it play out on screen. In this fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world and we’re all just living in it. There’s supes imprisoned in a Freedom Camp, others struggling to mount a resistance, and one M.I.A Kimiko with no ETA. Oh, and a virus that will wipe all supes off the map just waiting to be released. Sounds super (hero) chill.

4. Euphoria Season 3

Where Can I Watch it? On HBO Max

A lot has happened to the cast of Euphoria since season 2 aired in January of 2022. Angus Cloud tragically passed away, Sydney Sweeney turned her bath water into soap, Zendaya got married to Spiderman, and Jacob Elordi snagged an Oscar nom. It turns out a lot of life has happened to the cast’s characters, too. Season 3 sees us return to East Highland, California, where our once troubled teens have grown into troubled twenty-somethings, grappling with loss, love, and of course, addiction. We’ve all seen the teaser, but now it’s finally time for the main act.

5. Half Man

Where Can I Watch it? On HBO Max

After captivating the world with his groundbreaking debut series, Baby Reindeer, the global population has been waiting to see what Richard Gadd comes up with next. No pressure. Enter Half Man, a six-part drama starring Gadd and Jamie Bell, who play Ruben and Niall – buddies with a bond like brothers. The series spans several decades, following the siblings from teens to adults on a journey peppered with problems. Dubbed a dark and gritty examination of masculinity, this one’s bound for trending topic territory.

6. The House of the Spirits

Where Can I Watch it? On Prime Video

A series adaptation of bestselling author Isabel Allende’s iconic debut novel of the same name, The House of the Spirits is a multi-generational masterpiece. Over eight episodes, the Spanish-language series follows the Trueba family through decades of life and all it encompasses - love and secret romances, conflict and loss, and the toll of a violent revolution in Chile. But secrets can’t stay hidden forever, and years of struggle start to strain the family, deepening the generational divide between the patriarch and his granddaughter.

7. Margo's Got Money Troubles

Where Can I Watch it? On Apple TV+

Based on Rufi Thorpe’s 2024 novel of the same name, Margo's Got Money Troubles has a cast as impressive as its showrunner David E Kelley’s IMDb. Starring Elle Fanning, Nick Offerman, Nicole Kidman, and Michelle Pfeiffer (who also happens to be David E Kelley’s wife), the eight-ep comedy drama centers around 20-year-old single mum Margo. And as you might suspect, Margo has money troubles. As such, she turns to OnlyFans to fund her life, inspired by her estranged ex-professional wrestler father’s advice. As you do.

8. The Miniature Wife

Where Can I Watch it? On Peacock

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids walked so that The Miniature Wife could fly, albeit with tiny baby wings. This new sci-fi comedy series starring Matthew Macfadyen and Elizabeth Banks follows Lindy Littlejohn, a bestselling author who is - yep, you guessed it - accidentally shrunk by her husband, Les - who is hard to imagine as anyone other than Shiv Roy’s husband, Tom. A sizeable marital battle plays out between them, for both obvious and not so obvious reasons. Equal parts weird and wonderful.

9. The Testaments

Where Can I Watch it? On Hulu

After six harrowing seasons, we bid goodbye to Gilead for good. Or so we thought. Alas, the highly anticipated sequel to The Handmaid's Tale has arrived, breathing new life into Margaret Atwood’s work. Based on her 2019 novel of the same name, The Testaments follows teenagers Agnes and Daisy (played by Chase Infiniti and Lucy Halliday) some 15 years after the events of the Handmaid’s Tale, while Ann Dowd reprises her role as Aunt Lydia, but not quite as you’ve ever seen her before.

10. Unchosen

Where Can I Watch it? On Netflix

Asa Butterfield is back, but instead of dolling out sex ed advice he’s part of a Christian sect. Quite the career change. Created by Julie Gearey, the psychological thriller series stars Molly Windsor as Rosie, a wife and mother closed off from society in a cult alongside her husband Adam (Butterfield). When an escaped prisoner named Sam shows her a glimpse of the real world, Rosie grapples with her love of the church and her desire for freedom in this gripping six-ep thriller.

11. Widow's Bay

Where Can I Watch it? On Apple TV+

Many know and love him as one half of The Americans, but for some, he’ll always be Kevin Walker in Brothers & Sisters. Either way, he’s taken on a new role as Mayor Tom Loftis in horror thriller series Widow’s Bay. Set in New England, Tom attempts to revamp a local town to help tourism, ignoring the warnings of superstitious local residents that the town is cursed and not to be meddled with. But does Tom listen? Of course not.
