Kellie Brown Is Making Interiors Feel Fun Again

The content creator and founder of Deeply Madly Modern takes us inside her eclectic Los Angeles home.

Welcome to The Makers. Each week, we celebrate innovators, artisans, and crafters of all types by taking you on a private tour of their creative spaces. For this instalment, we tour content creator and Deeply Madly Modern founder Kellie Brown’s eclectic home in Los Angeles, California.

If a picture paints a thousand words, then consider Kellie Brown’s Instagram to be an extensive essay on style, self-love, and personal expression. The LA-based content creator and founder of Deeply Madly Modern shares everything from color blocking ‘fits to musings on a recent ‘random act of kindness’ with her 150k+ strong Instagram following, showcasing both her impeccable taste and bubbly personality in equal measure.

The same can be said for her Los Angeles home, where both substance and style are on full display.

“I like my space to inspire imagination,” she tells Bed Threads Journal. Blending retro influences with contemporary details, Kellie’s home showcases her creative nature. From her enviable collection of vintage furniture, bespoke tapestries, abstract artworks, and a kaleidoscopic collection of coffee table books, Kellie has interspersed meaningful pieces that spark joy throughout her home.

Understandably, one of Kellie’s favorite pieces in the home is her green couch; it’s bright, eye-catching, and serves as the perfect centerpiece in her open-plan living room. A minimal gallery wall sits above the living area, creating a stunning focal point beneath the home’s original timber beams.

In the dining room, six forest green Rey chairs sit beneath the Arc dining table by Sun At Six, and an impressive stack of vintage Elena tables display her library of coffee table books.

Kellie fell in love with interiors shortly after her east-to-west move from the bustling city of New York to the laid back Los Angeles. “As a former New Yorker I always wanted to live in a loft, and even though this is a 1920s Spanish [home], it still feels incredibly lofty,” Kellie said. “As soon as I walked in I knew that I wanted to live here.”

This space was the perfect canvas for her to flex her interior chops – and, naturally, share this journey with her followers. Kellie created a new account; ‘Deeply Madly Modern’, which puts a spotlight on interiors.

“I wanted to create a separate space where I could focus solely on interiors so as to not bog down my beautiful community of fashion and lifestyle lovers on my @itsmeKellieB account,” she said. “Deeply Madly Modern has connected me to so many incredible and talented people that love home and home decor as much as I do.”

Deeply Madly Modern then made its way onto YouTube, where Kellie now shares home tours of friends and creators exploring the link between personal style and self-expression with her series ‘Home Decor Homies’.

“I think I’ve always had a deep understanding of the importance of interior style, but it’s fun to hear people talk about the things that they love and to hear stories behind their choices,” she said. “Home Decor Homies is so special because it’s really about friendship through the lens of interiors, and chatting is my favorite part.”

This is Kellie’s superpower; creating beautiful outfits and spaces that sparkle with warmth and personality. “If you look at a picture of your home, it shouldn’t be easily mistaken for anyone else’s… your space should still represent who you are.”

If that’s the metric of success, Kellie has nailed the brief.
