From cosy rentals to chicly renovated abodes, our weekly series The Makers has allowed us to step inside the dream homes of inspiring creatives. The wonderful thing about this series is that it offers an intimate and valuable insight into the world of creative types spanning painters to journalists – people we often only contemplate through their divine work.
In celebration of Bed Threads' 5th birthday, we've gone through the archives and are sharing the five home tours that our audience has clicked the most in the last few years.
Courtney Adamo's 120-Year-Old House Transformation
It's easy to see why this beautifully remodelled home in Bangalow has caught the attention of our audience. But it wasn't always this aesthetic.
The Adamos remodelled the house, moving the kitchen to the rear of the home so that it would overlook the garden, and added a laundry room, second bathroom, and one final bedroom. For styling, Courtney went for a simple, open, and inviting look, hanging the family’s treasured pieces of art from their travels on every wall and letting in as much light as possible through big, open windows.
The result is an airy and relaxed family home, full of life and love. A place where kids can cook in the kitchen with their father, or grab a surfboard and head out to the beach.
2. Rowi Singh's Colourful Apartment
You can see beauty guru Rowi Singh’s style everywhere in her Sydney apartment. The space is cool, striking and full of life, just like the incredible makeup looks she creates online. This is most evident in the living room where her unique and eclectic taste is on full display. There are artworks from Nick Thomm on the walls alongside specially-commissioned skateboards from Rholtsu, one of those cult favourite twisty neon candles from Jolie Laide on a gold side table and a thick shaggy rug from Temple & Webster covering the floor.
3. Pandora Sykes' Playful Victorian Terrace in London
As a journalist and author, Pandora obviously has a way with words, but she also has an eye for interior design, which is evident throughout her beautiful London terrace home. Boasting whimsy and sophistication, it's a study in how to use colour, pattern, and eclectic décor to create a home truly reflective of your personal style.
There's a definite playfulness to the home's design. Patterned wallpaper and soft furnishings, ornate décor, and various styles of artwork culminate to create a cosy yet chic scheme that looks expertly put together.
4. Puno Puno's Warehouse-Style Apartment
Web Designer Puno Puno's chic apartment is filled with plants, pastels, 70s-inspired furniture, and a few vintage Milo Baughman gems — a style Puno refers to as “Danish Tropical” — the space checks every box on her and her partner's unique list of requirements. The next-level bedroom is swathed in peach and terracotta tones and can only be described as "glowy".
In addition to hosting friends and coworkers, the space has served as HQ for both ilovecreatives and ilovecreatives studios for the better part of a decade.
5. Cyndi Ramirez's Chill Apartment in New York City
Cyndi Ramirez is paving the way for a modern self-care experience, both in and out of the home with her wellness brand Chillhouse. Her dream apartment takes on a similarly relaxed yet ultra-chic vibe that exists in the Chillhouse retail spaces. Retro design dominates the rooms which feature pieces like mid-century low-set timber consoles, an '80s-style chrome coffee table, and '70s-style coloured glass pendant lights.
