With two seasons crying out to be binge-watched on Amazon Prime, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is a hilarious portrait of what it means to be a woman in the ‘50s. And the costumes are gorgeous, too.

You’ve read the book, you’ve held things in your hand to see if they sparked joy, now it’s time to watch the television show. The Hook Up Plan on Netflix

Looking for something fun, frothy and feather light in bite-sized chunks lasting no longer than 30 minutes? Look no further than Netflix’s The Hook Up Plan, a delightful French original that launched on the platform late last year. In it, two friends despair that their pal, Elsa, still reeling from a devastating breakup, will never get back out on the dating scene again, so they hire her a male escort. Only, Elsa doesn’t know that the gorgeous Jules is being paid to date her and, of course, she falls in love. This romantic is so sweet it will give you a toothache. We dare you to try and watch it without a huge grin on your face.

Dirty John on Netflix

Coming to Netflix on Valentine’s Day (charming choice of date, Netflix) is Dirty John, the television adaptation of the insanely popular true crime podcast series. Starring Eric Bana and Connie Britton, it follows one woman’s relationship with John, a manipulative, controlling doctor who is not at all what he seems. That this story is true is perhaps the most twisted, unsettling thing about the whole series, and judging on reviews from the US, where it premiered last year, it’ll be a TV show you won’t be able to stop thinking about.
