11 New TV Series You’ll Be Obsessed With This October
From the highly anticipated John Steinbeck adaptation 'East of Eden' and third season of the Netflix hit 'Nobody Wants This', to the aptly titled divorce drama 'War' and a contemporary remake of horror classic 'Carrie', October offers plenty of TV to obsess over.
We’ve been spoiled with the scope of storytelling gifted to us this year through our screens. The recent Emmys were a stark reminder of that. But just because we’ve been blessed with some seriously good TV already, doesn’t mean we can’t keep the good times rolling.
This month, Stephen King’s classic novel Carrie is reimagined once again, this time in the social media age. The horror spree continues with Crystal Lake, a prequel series to Friday the 13th starring Linda Cardellini as Pam Voorhees. What else? Florence Pugh makes her highly anticipated return to the small screen in period drama East of Eden, while Sienna Miller and Dominic West play out one bitter divorce in the aptly titled new series, War.

1. Below
Where can I watch it? On Netflix
It may sound like a similar plot line to the record-breaking 14 Emmy-winning series Widow's Bay, but Below takes things a bit more seriously. Set and shot in Newfoundland, this horror series follows local fisherman Calvin Penney (played by Josh Hartnett) as he seeks to find the cause of his town’s growing problems. From disappearing fish to vanishing tourists and even ice that stinks, it seems that there’s evil brewing beneath the sea.
2. Carrie
Where can I watch it? On Amazon Prime Video
Sissy Spacek covered in pig’s blood on prom night will forever be an iconic image thanks to the 1976 film adaptation of Stephen King’s horror classic, Carrie. In the last fifty years, we’ve seen a sequel, two more remakes, and a musical, but this is the first time we’ve been treated to a modern eight-episode take on the telekinetic turn of events. Created by Mike Flanagan, Summer H Howell plays Carrie, joined by Samantha Sloyan as her homeschooling mother who has no idea what social media is capable of.
3. Crystal Lake
Where can I watch it? On Peacock
Who knew Pam Voorhees had such a complex past? Well, all of us now, thanks to this eight-episodes prequel to the 1980 horror classic, Friday the 13th. Humanizing the villain of all villains, Crystal Lake takes us through Pam’s journey of grief after she loses her son, Jason, in a drowning accident. With his body never to be found, she seeks answers, and ultimately, someone to blame. Well, maybe more than one. We know how the next part goes.
4. Cupertino
Where can I watch it? On Paramount+
Created by Robert and Michelle King (The Good Wife and The Good Fight), this Silicon Valley-set drama follows two lawyers, Mike Price (Mike Colter) and Olivia Siffre (Rachel Keller), who open a firm together representing clients wronged by big tech companies after their own personal battles. It’s a David vs. Goliath style fight, but one they feel compelled to take on after being scammed out of stock options and sexually harassed in their previous jobs. Renée Elise Goldsberry and Busy Philipps round out the puffer-vested, power-suited cast.
5. The Diplomat Season 4
Where can I watch it? On Netflix
“She knows.” Those two words are enough to send chills down any husband’s spine, and yet it’s exactly what we heard Hal say in the cliffhanger finale of season 3 of The Diplomat. In season 4 of the hit political drama starring Keri Russell, we find out just how much she knows and how much of a problem that might be not only for her husband, Vice President Hal Wyler, and President Grace Penn, but also for maintaining peace around the world.
6. East of Eden
Where can I watch it? On Netflix
John Steinbeck's 1952 novel East of Eden was first adapted into a film in 1955, starring none other than James Dean as Cal Trask. Twenty-six years later, a three-episode adaptation of the family saga was made, and now, some 45 years later, we’ve been blessed with a seven-episode series created and written by Zoe Kazan, starring Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, and Mike Faist. Period dramas don’t get much juicier than this.
7. Kill Jackie
Where can I watch it? On AMC
We’ve seen Catherine Zeta-Jones take on many roles in her long and decorated career, but never have we seen her like this. In action crime thriller Kill Jackie, Zeta-Jones plays Jackie Price, a former international drug smuggler turned high art dealer who is dragged back into her past life when a deadly crew of hitmen menacingly dubbed ‘The Seven Demons’ are hired to kill her. Sounds chill.
8. Nobody Wants This
Where can I watch it? On Netflix
What happens when an assertive, agnostic sex-and-dating podcaster falls in love with a warm, wholesome rabbi? You get a viral TV sensation. Since its debut in September 2024, and its season two follow-up a year later, Nobody Wants This has remained one of the most popular shows on Netflix. Now, like clockwork (they know we can’t wait too long), season three is here. There’s no more ‘Will they, won’t they?’ (they will!), so this season, we’ll see Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody) move in together and take their relationship to the next level. Cue undeniable chemistry, witty banter and charming miscommunications.
9. Nocturne
Where can I watch it? On Apple TV
Based on two novels by the Swedish husband-and-wife writing duo known as ‘Lars Kepler’, this 10-episode crime drama follows Jonah Lynn (played by Liev Schreiber), an ex-soldier and homicide detective whose small-town move becomes big news when a suspected serial killer victim (played by Stephen Graham) is unexpectedly found alive, forcing Lynn to find another possible survivor before time runs out.
10. VisionQuest
Where can I watch it? On Disney+
What would a month of good TV be without a new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? In VisionQuest, a spinoff of WandaVision, android character Vision finds himself left with memories but no emotions attached to them. By talking with his AI personas embedded within him, including Ultron (played by James Spader), he tries to find, and connect, these missing feelings. Kind of like using ChatGPT to sort out your love life, no?
11. War
Where can I watch it? On HBO
Some know Dominic West from The Wire, some from The Affair, and others from those incredible paparazzi photos of him hiding behind a bush after being caught gallivanting across Italy with his co-star who very much wasn’t his wife. But in the legal drama War, you will know him as Morgan Henderson, a high-profile tech mogul going through a contentious divorce with his wife, movie star Carla Duval (played by Sienna Miller). With so many egos (and dollars) at stake, what could go wrong? Pretty much everything.
