‘Fridgescaping’ Is the TikTok Trend Taking Over Our Kitchens

A professional organizer breaks down what to know, avoid and how to get the look.

Well, TikTok has finally come for our fridges. Enter: ‘fridgescaping’, also known as the art of arranging the items in one’s fridge for maximum aesthetic satisfaction.

Even if you haven’t heard of the term, you’ve likely seen one or two viral ‘fridgescaping’ videos (earnest or parodied) of fridges bedecked with jars and flowers float across your FYP or feed, which begs the question: is this even a trend worth trying?

Turns out: Yes – if you do it right.

To learn everything there is to know about ‘fridgescaping’ – especially what to avoid – we consulted professional home organizer and decluttering expert Christine Krkach from THE o.c.d to fill us in.

Keep reading for your intro to ‘Fridgescaping’ 101.

How to organize your fridge – ‘fridgescaping’-style

Below, Krkach shares her top four tips to give your fridge the ‘fridgescaping’ treatment.

1. Group similar items together

“Keep like items together for easy access and a cohesive look. For example, place all dairy products on one shelf and produce in another area, using containers or baskets to group them.”

2. Use clear glass or decorative containers

“Transfer items like milk, butter and condiments into glass jars, pitchers or decorative dishes to create a stylish, uniform appearance. This also makes your food easier to see and more inviting to use.”

3. Prioritize freshness

“Place perishables like fruits, vegetables and dairy in prominent spots where they’ll be used before they expire. Avoid hiding them at the back where they can be overlooked.”

4. Rotate and refresh regularly

“Make a habit of checking for expired items and rotating older products to the front. This ensures your fridge stays fresh and reduces food waste.”
