8 'Bridgerton'-Inspired Ways to Update Your Interiors

Netflix’s latest big hit Bridgerton, didn’t just spark an obsession with binge-worthy Period-dramas and lavish fashion styles; it also triggered a newfound appreciation for Regency interiors. The luxuriously sophisticated furnishings and alluring boudoirs served as a visual feast for viewers, so much so that the term ‘Regency-core’ is officially trending.

It’s all thanks to Bridgerton’s production designer Will Hughes-Jones and set decorator Gina Cromwell, who were able to perfectly depict the Regency period aesthetic through decor and furnishings.

“I heard that there has been a 300% increase on eBay for Regency Empire furniture,” Hughes-Jones said in an interview.

It definitely proves the more-is-more approach to decorating is definitely in, but you can still incorporate a Bridgerton essence without going too over-the-top - or breaking the bank.

From flowing drapery, to classic chandeliers and antique mirrors, here are 8 stylish and subtle Bridgerton-inspired home decor ideas that are a cinch to implement into your own humble abode.

8 Bridgerton-inspired decor tips to incorporate into your home

1. Antique mirrors

The bigger the mirror, the greater the illusion of space - and you can’t go wrong with an oversized floor mirror fitted with ornate gold frames for an opulent Bridgerton look.

2. Flowing drapes

In an interview with Architectural Digest, Hugh-Jones noted that lavish drapes played a crucial role in the design with almost all draperies being created from scratch for the 250-plus sets.

And guess what? Fabric curtains have officially made a comeback, especially in the bedroom. Look for something neutral, thick, monochrome, and durable, and ensure you hang them from your curtain rod all the way to the floor. When curtains skim the ground like that, they really elongate the room, making it feel bigger, more spacious and increases the feel of the ceiling height. We’re loving curtains in shades of sage green, dusty rose, and classic oatmeals at the moment.

3. Brass embellishments

Metallic details will instantly add royalty to any space. Try adding shiny new door handles or candle holders throughout your space.

4. Pastels

Wedgewood Blue comprised the color palette for the Bridgerton family home along with hints of pastel pink, which appeared in their furnishing and Empire-style gowns. In comparison, the Featheringtons had a green color theme, and rooms in both houses were designed with citrus hues of green, yellow, and orange.

Re-create this look in the bedroom with our Bed Threads 100% flax linen bed sheets. With Build Your Own Bundle, you can mix-and-match colors such as Mineral with Rosewater to channel a Bridgerton vibe, or Sage and Olive for a Featherington touch.

5. Vintage-inspired wall art

Sure, a massive Victorian portrait won’t work for every home, but keep in mind that a still life painting or print, or even a personal photo, can instantly feel more Regency-core with the addition of an embellished frame.

6. Damask wallpaper

Lush floral wallpapers dominated the screens throughout the series, so you’ll be glad to know wallpapers are another big interior trend of 2021.

Instead of going all-out with similar bold prints seen in Bridgerton, we suggest opting for a print that’s soothing to the eye in the bedroom. Think a soft floral motif or a vintage-leaning botanical print - really, anything that will help bring the outside in and provide a chic backdrop for your bedroom.

7. Fauteuil furniture

Daphne Bridgerton was seen welcoming suitors while seated in fauteuil chairs and sofas, characterized by their carved wood frames and open upholstered panels. To make yours even more Bridgerton-esque, opt for ones with silk textiles and pastel colors.

8. Fresh flowers

The florals of the Bridgerton residence was one of the most eye-catching details of the series where purple wisteria was draped off the building’s exterior and the gardens were filled with plump roses. Then who could forget the lilies, tulips, baby’s breath, and (more) roses that a mass of suitors brought to Daphne Bridgerton in her sitting room as they were seeking her hand in marriage?

The addition of flowers (choose pastels, again) can instantly brighten any room plus, research has proven the addition of living plants can improve your mental wellbeing.
