How Astrologer Natasha Weber Uses the Stars and Moon to Help Her Fall Asleep
Welcome to Bedtime Stories, an interview series where we ask inspiring individuals to share their nighttime routine and sleep secrets – from the beauty products they can’t live without to the tricks they swear by when they’re too tired to function (no coffee needed). For this installment, one of Australia's leading astrologers Natasha Weber, reveals how she follows the stars to guide her towards the best sleep, night after night.
From sleeping with socks on to diffusing lavender essential oil and even drinking boiled lettuce water, there are a myriad of sleep tricks you can try to help you fall – and stay asleep – every single night. However, if none of these tactics have worked, it might be a good idea to look towards astrology. While we've previously shared the best bedtime routine for you, according to your star sign, Australia's leading astrologer Natasha Weber, takes it one step further and lets her Sun, Moon, and Rising sign guide her towards better health.
Natasha has learned how to balance her energetic Gemini Sun and overindulgent Sagittarius Rising to create rituals that help ground her at night and leave her invigorated in the morning. During full Moons, she's more mindful of her sleep schedule and is particularly conscious of her vivid dreams when La Luna is full.
Here, Bed Threads Journal sat down with the inspirational astrologer to find out how she uses cosmic energy to guide her sleep schedule so she wakes up feeling refreshed and energized every morning.
Hi Natasha! Welcome to Bedtime Stories. Can you walk us through your bedtime routine?
I aim to close my eyes before 11:00pm because my acupuncturist tells me that’s the best bedtime for optimal wellbeing. Still, I’m a slave to my Gemini busy buzzing mind and I get flashes of late-night inspiration.
When it comes to switching off, a happy heart and a relaxed state of mind is key. But I do have to work at it. I start with writing a to-do list for the next day. That way, I mentally dump mundane thoughts and tasks onto the paper to avoid them swirling around in my head overnight. Then, a hot shower followed by a guided meditation works a treat.
I sometimes end my day reading, but the trouble is that I get so inspired by brilliant ideas, concepts, and theories that I start over-thinking again!
What sleep or beauty products do you swear by that you won’t go a night without?
To say my skin is sensitive is an understatement. In the past, I suffered from severe eczema on my face, neck, and upper body that couldn’t even be covered with makeup. It took years, but eventually I worked my way towards a healthy complexion from the inside out. It was a brutal journey but one that granted me strength of character and gratitude for each day that I literally feel comfortable in my own skin. But it was my skin condition that sparked an interest in holistic wellness.
So, to answer your question, I honestly believe the best beauty secret is great gut health, nutrition and… sleep! In terms of products, I love anything that skips using too many chemicals. I use a Rationale night cream that’s brimming with antioxidants and my makeup is mostly mineral-based to avoid absorbing a toxic facial cocktail.
What is your solution for those nights you simply can’t nod off to sleep?
Deep belly breathing instantly relaxes me. Before I’ve had a chance to mentally switch back on, I’ll breathe a few slow breathes and then slip back into sleep. Also, it may sound corny, but thinking happy thoughts really works for me. I find acknowledging the things I’m grateful for to be incredibly soothing.
The one time I give in to sleeplessness is during a full Moon, which can mess with sleep cycles. My dreams are wildly vivid when La Luna is full, too! When that happens, I just go with the cosmic flow, get out of bed and grab a cup of herbal tea.
What time does your alarm go off in the morning?
I’m up at 7am. I love to kick off my day with exercise in the form of yoga, Zumba, Pilates, weights, or walking my dog, Leo Luna (named after my Moon sign). As a former ballerina, I still need to move my body daily. Gemini not only rules the mind, but it’s a sign that finds sitting still a challenge – that’s me!
After that, l’ll chart the day’s astrology. Although, I prepare all the major planetary movements, plus the lunar cycles, retrogrades, and eclipses at least one year in advance. My day consists of writing daily astro updates, horoscopes, and researching for my book. But my favorite thing to do is talk about astrology with like-minded souls. Then I do the school run, take my son to tennis, squeeze in some errands and whip up dinner.
What are three things (besides coffee) that help when you’re too tired to function?
Oh that’s easy… organic dark chocolate, hot green tea, and ambition.
What do you normally eat for breakfast to kick start your day?
A glass of water with a twist of lemon is the best. I’ll usually add a probiotic, too. For breakfast, my daughter’s homemade muesli with fresh apple and organic yogurt is my staple.
On the weekends, it’s either scrambled eggs with sautéed asparagus or crepes with jam, berries, and maple syrup. (Blame my Sagittarius rising, which loves to overindulge!)
I guess you could say that a love of life, good food, and soulful people are written in my stars.
