Caramel Collagen Coffee and Pilates Are Key to Our Customer Service Manager’s Productive Days

Waking up at 6 am is no issue for Ash.

Working in customer service can be both rewarding and challenging. It requires patience, strong communication skills, empathy, and strong product knowledge. Enter Ash; our bubbly customer service manager who has nailed all of these skills.

In her role, Ash is responsible for leading and motivating a customer service team of six to ensure a high-quality support experience for our fabulous Bed Threads community. What makes Ash so great at her role is that she genuinely cares about ensuring a positive experience for customers and the team, actively listens to concerns and provides clear explanations and solutions.

Each day on the team is different, so having a structured morning routine is helpful in setting Ash up for success each day. Below, she shares what that looks like and her tips for those looking to get into this line of work.

Hi Ash! Welcome to the Bed Threads Team Morning Routine Series! Can you tell us a little bit about what you do at Bed Threads?

Absolutely, I am the customer service manager! I have been with Bed Threads for nearly four years and have an amazing beautiful team who look after all of our lovely customers.

What time do you typically wake up? Can you walk us through your morning routine?

I am one of those morning people who love waking up at 6 am. It's the best way for me to start the day and get ahead of everything I need to do. I also love starting my day with exercise so I usually go for a Pilates class or cardio session at the gym to start my day before work commences.

What are some essentials that you can’t start your day without?

I am currently in love with my caramel collagen coffee. I've been using the new Nutra Organics Caramel Collagen with my cold brew and macadamia milk – so delicious.

What do you typically eat for breakfast to kickstart your day?

I’m trying to become more of a breakfast person as it is the most important meal of the day, especially after a good workout. So when working from home, if I take myself to a cafe for breakfast it gets me more excited to have something good before I start work. My local cafe Soulmate Coffee in Newtown has a house-made bagel, and with lox, herb cream cheese, and pickled onion – it's delicious.

Is there anything aside from coffee that helps when you feel too tired to function?

Exercise helps so much with my energy levels and if I don’t head to the gym I do love a big walk to get some fresh air and go say hi to all the local cats hanging around my neighbourhood enjoying the sunshine before I log on for the day.

How do you prioritise your tasks and organise your morning to ensure a productive start?

I prioritise my team first and make sure they are all set up for the day as this is so important, then once they are set up I can tackle my tasks for the day.

Do you have any specific strategies to help you stay focused and motivated throughout the workday?

I’m extremely lucky that my home office has plenty of natural sunlight and keeping this space clean and organised helps me stay on top of my tasks during the day.

What is your advice for anyone who is looking to get into customer service work?

My best advice for someone interested in this field is to work hard and be ready to take on anything, as the one thing that is certain in customer support is anything can happen.

Which Bed Threads colourways do you currently have on your bed?

I currently have Limoncello and Lilac.
