10 New Shows We Can’t Wait to Watch in November

An exciting selection of brand new shows are about to hit our streaming services next month and we couldn't be more ready.

There’s more seasons of shows we love, like The Great, Dickinson and Yellowstone, as well as some huge new launches, including a Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell dramedy The Shrink Next Door, another Marvel blockbuster, some Netflix documentary obsessions, and a gripping Big Pharma true story.

In need of something fresh to watch? Here are 10 of the best new shows you can binge-watch in November.

10 of the best shows to watch in November

1. The North Water

Fans of The Revenant will love this survival miniseries, set on a whaling ship deep in the arctic circle and starring Colin Farrell, Jack O’Connell and Stephen Graham. These kinds of shows always make us feel super cold, but if you can handle icy vistas, we’ve heard great things about this gripping series.

2. Dickinson

Hailee Steinfeld’s unconventional Emily Dickinson biopic is quietly one of our favourite shows. This is the third and final season that follows the poet as the civil war unfolds around her, and she has to make some tough decisions about what she stands for. The conceit of this series is that the world of the past and the world of today are not that dissimilar: you’ll see the Dickinsons twerking and using modern day slang, which isn’t to everyone’s taste. But if you can get on board with the razor sharp wit of this well-scripted and very well-acted series, you’ll love it. Trust us!

3. What Happened, Brittany Murphy?

This critically acclaimed two part documentary looks into the tragic death of Clueless star Brittany Murphy, trying to uncover what really went wrong towards the end of her life. The access in this series is unprecedented, with several of her friends giving interviews, and the portrait it paints of the star’s life and death is said to be extensive.

4. Yellowstone

The Duttons are back for season four, and with all manner of foul business, too. Yellowstone is such an addictive show, and partly because it’s full of people behaving badly. (Let the success of Succession prove why that is such an enduring prospect on television these days.) In Yellowstone there’s the added factor of gorgeous ranch landscapes to throw into the mix, along with obscene wealth, and families fighting amongst themselves.

5. The Shrink Next Door

It’s the kind of story they call stranger than fiction, too crazy to be true. But there is a true story behind this miniseries, which is based on a podcast from the creators of Dirty John and Doctor Death. The Shrink Next Door follows a patient and psychiatrist relationship that turns sour, after a therapist slowly encroaches on the life of his client. Will Ferrell stars as the patient and Paul Rudd Did we mention Paul Rudd! as that therapist. This is a performance unlike any he’s given before. People are going to be riveted.

6. Tiger King

More Tiger King? In this economy? Seems like a wild call to make, but then again, the show was watched by 64 million people when it premiered on Netflix last year, so who are we to say? The show is going to pick up with Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin, Jeff Lowe and more, in the seedy world of animal parks in the US. The big difference this time is that Joe Exotic is currently in jail, serving a 22 year sentence for attempting to hire someone to murder Baskin. Boy oh boy. Are you really ready for more Tiger King?

7. The Sex Lives of College Girls

This comedy series looks like it’s going to be our next favourite binge-watch. It was written by Mindy Kaling, so you know the jokes are going to be good, and stars a bunch of up-and-coming comedic stars, including Pauline Chalamet, who is the sister to Timothee Chalamet. The premise is really simple: follow a group of university first years as they navigate parties, dates, crushes and more, and it looks like everything we could possibly want to fill the Sex Education sized hole in our lives right now.

8. Wheel of Time

How do you feel about fantasy? We know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but for those who love fantasy, Wheel of Time is one of the most popular book series ever. This adaptation has been in the works for a long time, and a second season is currently in production, so you know Amazon is confident people will love it. Rosamund Pike stars with our Aussie star Madeleine Madden. We’ll definitely be watching.

9. The Great

We love The Great! Elle Fanning’s empress Catherine attempting to out-manoeuvre her dim-witted husband Peter (Nicholas Hoult) in imperial Russia? You really do love to see it. A second season will drop onto Stan this month, and we’re so looking forward to seeing what Catherine has up her sleeve this time around. And not just because the costumes in this show are marvellous.

10. Hawkeye

This year, Marvel will have released four television shows, all different from each other. There was the sitcom-riff WandaVision, the straightforward action epic Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki, which was nerdy and scheme-y and full of wit. We loved them all, and are very intrigued by Hawkeye, the fourth Marvel show to come out this year, following archer Clint (Jeremy Renner) and his new protege Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). The teasers from this show have played up the Christmas setting of the show, and the final episode will air right before the festive season kicks off. Is Hawkeye actually going to be about Christmas? We’re keen to find out.
